This page is dedicated to the world's more than 139,000 youthful volunteers who call themselves Leos. In 138 nations worldwide, there are more than 5,000 Leo clubs. Each club is sponsored by a Lions club. There are more than 44,000 Lions clubs in 185 geographical locations around the world. Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to serve humanity. At last count, there were more than 1.4 million Lions club members in the world. That makes Lions Clubs International the largest service club organization in the world. Leo club members are between the ages of 10 and 28. Like the members of their sponsoring Lions club, Leo club members volunteer to serve their communities. Benefits of Becoming a Leo For the past 40 years, thousands of young people have benefited from membership in the Leo Club Program. Some of these benefits are tangible; others are intangible. Making new friends and viewing the world through another's perspective are two of the benefits of Leo service. As community volunteers, Leos often develop confidence and organization skills through this hands-on experience. Leo club and district offices help young people develop these skills. In Multiple District 305, Pakistan, Leos participated in a leadership camp to develop motivational and organizational skills. Members of the Athens (Psichikon), Greece Leo Club participated in a Leo seminar organized by their sponsoring Lions club. Another benefit of Leo club membership is experiencing teamwork. The Bandirma (Balikesir) Leos, Turkey, organized a fundraising dinner. Proceeds from the dinner benefited children in need. In Cyprus, members of the Famagusta Leo Club worked together to create a successful car wash fundraiser. Membership in a Leo club also develops fellowship and camaraderie. As every Lion knows, these are essential for a successful club. One of the many activities enjoyed by the Tokai Leo Club, Republic of South Africa, is bowling. The Leos have also enjoyed attending theater events together, playing active cricket, taking hikes, and playing the Trivial Pursuit board game. As members of a worldwide organization, Leos have international benefits as well. Leos often participate in the Lions international youth camp and youth exchange programs. Leo clubs also participate in the Leo club twinning program. Recently, the Coronel Bogado "SUCA" Leos, Paraguay, twinned with the Porto Xavier Leos in neighboring Brazil.
LEOS in Miami Our club presently has three (3) active Leo Clubs in the Miami-Dade County Public School system with over 100 members combined. Their activities range from school events to participating in food drives as well as parades. |
