December 31, 2002 (New Year’s Eve) - The Miami-Dade Lions Club and the Leo Club or Rockway Middle School were declared the “Winners” of the Queen’s Award for their float at the Junior Orange Bowl Parade. Their entry was entitle “Community Pride, Hands on Youth.” This prize was awarded for having the best non-commercial float in 2002 parade! |

March 29, 2003 - The Miami-Dade Lions Club will sponsor a Candle Light Vigil to Support Our Troops and their families in front of the Torch of Friendship in Downtown Miami’s Bayside. This event is non-political and non-protest as it aims at recognizing our American Heroes and their loved ones. |
